After owning a new Legend 26 for five years, we were completely sold on Legend boats for their high level of comfort, space, ease of handling, value, and low maintenance. We therefore bought Fairwind 11 at the 2001 London Boat Show.
Fairwind 11 is fully equipped for sailing in all European and home waters. We have sailed without a serious incident with Rally Portugal, to Gibralter, Menorca, Sardinia, Rome, the Cote d`Azur, wintering in the Paris marina by the Bastille.
Fairwind 11 is easy to sail with in-mast main, and furling jib, All lines come back to the cockpit so there is no need to go forward. The mainsheet traveller on top of the stainless arch makes for a very safe and an uncluttered cockpit.
Most of the time Ann & I sail alone. However, for our only two races, we had the benefit of our family as crew. Fairwind 11 won the 2002 Legend Fun race at Cowes, and did not race again until the 2008 Round the Island race against 1,875 yachts, when she averaged 6 knots over 9 hours 15 minutes.
Fairwind 11 is now berthed in the marina at the old town of La Roche Bernard on the river Vilaine, south Brittany. The 2010 berth cost including Passport escales provides at least two nights of free berthing or mooring at 40 ports around Brittany!
Fairwind 11 has been professionally maintained annually, to a very high standard regardless of cost.
Unfortunately, all good things come to an end, and being 80 next year the time has come for us to do a little chartering instead!
